Pablo Méndez (b. 1988, Buenos Aires) is an artist and curator working between France, Brazil, and Argentina. His work addresses the planetary habitability crisis as a historical and political condition—one that decides, unevenly, which lives are sustained and which are made disposable. He works with human and more-than-human worlds not as metaphor or backdrop, but as realities that insist, collide, and survive through fragile alliances. His practice grows from field encounters, long observation, and collaboration across disciplines.
Since 2010, Pablo has developed personal and collective projects shaped by ecological, colonial, and epistemological tensions. His work has been presented at Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles (2015), FRAC Provence–Alpes–Côte d’Azur (2015–2016), Casa Nacional del Bicentenario (Buenos Aires, 2016), Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Buenos Aires, 2019), Matadero Madrid—Puertas Abiertas (2021), Centro Cultural Kirchner—Simbiología. Prácticas artísticas en un planeta en emergencias (2021–2022), Investigaciones de futuro (Buenos Aires, 2022), documenta fifteen (Kassel, 2022), among others. At documenta fifteen, he collaborated with the Lumbung artist collective La Intermundial Holobiente (Argentina), participating on the creation of public programs along with artist Claudia Fontes, Guadalupe Miles and weavers from wich’í Cultural Center Tewok. He had also collaborated with philosopher Paula Fleisner documenting an invitation to non-humans relations to a possible way of reading their collective project the El libro de las diez mil cosas.
He has received grants from Fondo Nacional de las Artes (Argentina), Fondo Metropolitano de las Artes y de las Ciencias (Buenos Aires), Mecenazgo Cultural, CREA (Matadero Madrid), the Biennial of Moving Image (BIM, Buenos Aires), Fonds de Recherche en Arts (Fonds National de Recherche Scientifique – Belgium), among others. His practice has been supported by residencies at the National Museum of Natural History of France and the Académie des Beaux-Arts at La Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris, 2023–2024). He was awarded with the FNRS – FRS / FRArts 2024-2026 (Bélgique) research-creation grant for his ongoing research Jaguar Worlds
He will take part in the Art Explora residency program in Vila 31 (Tirana, Alabania, 2026), entangling historical memory practices, with fireflies living in the ruins of soviet empire.
Pablo graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (Arles, 2015). His work has been shaped by formative exchanges with Alan Talgham, Valeria González, Vinciane Despret, Thibault de Meyer, Anne-Lise Dauphiné-Morer, Dalila Puzzovio, Marine Fauché and Claudia Fontes.

My practice is also held by what I call an Affective Net — a web of intra-actions, in the sense Karen Barad gives to that term, and of the living web Starhawk names as the ground of all political and creative practice. These are the people whose thinking, presence, and care are woven into everything I make:
