“The Book of Ten Thousand Things” was created for Documenta fifteen – lumbung one by the artist Lumbung La Intermundial Holobiente. A Holobiente (including living and non-living beings) composed of the territory of Komposthaufen in Karls Auepark in Kassel would have written an invisible text to our eyes, in undetermined languages by an author or a plurality of authors known only to be non-human. What do these invisible texts say that occupy the blank page? What logics govern them? What rhetorics and grammars could be at their origin? What systems of perception and organization of experience? How can we imagine them? How can we read them?
To read is always to co-respond, that is, to responsibly assume the importance of another entity that we encounter.
I was invited by La Intermundial Holobiente to record a performative reading of this book, by the post-humanist feminist philosopher Paula Fleisner.
